“An attempted burglar was fatally shot with his own gun by a homeowner on Chicago’s Northwest Side.
The male home invader allegedly broke into a home in the 5700 block of North Spaulding Avenue around 10:34 a.m. Sunday.
The man encountered two men inside the home. A struggled ensured and the offender was shot with his own weapon.
One of the men inside the home was transported to Swedish Covenant Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was not immediately identified.
Meanwhile neighbors are hoping this is an isolated incident.
“In this neighborhood this is the first time I can remember anything like this or such a police presence,” said Huseyin Abiva, who lives across the street.”
