In June of 2015, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage, it was then Facebook introduced the rainbow filer to allow users who supported the cause to show their solidarity by adding a rainbow of their profile picture. Following shortly were the Paris attack in Nov of 2015, Facebook again introduced more filers to allow users to add the Paris flag over their profile picture.
In December of 2016, Facebook started allowing it’s users to add color to their Facebook status posts, slowly evolving to background status post pictures.
Facebook should be proud to be an American based company, it’s because of the freedoms and capitalism America offers Facebook was able to grow and prosper the way it did along with big internet tech companies like Google, Amazon, and Twitter.
Which brings us to 2018 and the question still goes unanswered, when are the people who are proud of their country America going to get an American flag to filter their profile or some patriotic colors to add to their post status. As we celebrate today the 4th of July 2018, some of us would love the opportunity to add such profile filters or status colors, but we got nothing.
Happy 4th of July America.
