A robbery suspect was killed with his own gun after he shot one victim and pistol-whipped another in west Oak Cliff late Monday, police said.
Officers were dispatched about 10:45 p.m. to the 4500 block of West Kiest Boulevard, near South Cockrell Hill Road.
They found the gunman dead. He won’t be identified until his next of kin has been notified.
Another person with a gunshot wound was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He was later listed as stable, Dallas police spokeswoman Tramese Jones said.
Homicide detectives who interviewed witnesses determined that the robber produced a handgun and tried to rob two people. One of the people got shot and then fought with the suspect to defend himself, Jones said. The victim managed to get the gun away and shoot the suspect.
The third person was injured by the robbery suspect after being struck with the gun, Jones said.
