Who is Keith Ellison? Ellison is the first Muslim to be elected to Congress, and represents the Fifth Congressional District of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives since January 4, 2007, and sits on the House Financial Services Committee and the House Democratic Steering Committee, which determines the party’s platform and committee assignments. It’s now 2018 and Ellison has elected to run for Minnesota Attorney General, a very contested seat.
Additionally, Ellison is a known supporter of Louis Farrakhan and was also known to have ties to the Nation of Islam.
However Ellison is a Black Muslim man, which wouldn’t matter in most cases, but this time it does, it goes to show why the Democrats are using a different playbook in Ellison’s case.
In the wake of the #MeToo movement, we have seen many big names ousted and allegations claims going back decades. Names like Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, Matt Lauer of CBS, Republican Roy Moore and even our President Donald Trump. Many have lost their jobs and some charged with rape or sexual assault, like in the case of Cosby and Weinstein. However let’s not stop there, the Metoo movement is by no means perfect, as Asia Argento, one of the leaders of the Metoo herself has been caught in a whirlwind of sexual assault claims.
Despite the power these women wield with the Metoo, some men accused still go untouched. Which brings us to Keith Ellison.
Keith Ellison has claims of domestic abuse leveled against him from two former girlfriends. Amy Alexander who claimed he “berated” and “pushed” her during an on-and-off relationship in the 1990s and early 2000s. And Karen Monahan, who accused him of repeated verbal abuse and pulling her from a bed by her ankle and shouted at her to get the f**** out of his house.
So why is Keith untouchable?
Well for one he’s a Legislator Progressives dream of, introducing bills like H.R.3715 – Personal Drug Importation Fairness Act of 2013, H.R.3957 – Same Day Registration Act and Co-sponsored many more.
Two. He’s an African-American. With the current climate of everything is racist and all white men are evil, you won’t see many on the right or left going after him for fear of being called racist.
Three, He’s a Muslim. You won’t see CNN, MSNBC or anyone in the mainstream media bringing up the story sexual abuse for fear of being called xenophobic or islamophobic.
And last. He’s a Democrat. Democrats will go after anyone who isn’t with them, Just look at how the Kavanaugh hearings went, the left was ready to eat him alive. However Clinton and Ellison goes unscathed.
So far two Democrats we’ve seen with staying power, President Bill Clinton and Mr. Ellison.
